Le Cutty Sark un clipper qui fut lancee sur le Clyde en 1869. Ce n'est qu'en
1870 qu'il commenca son service aventurier pour le transport du the de la
Chine. Mais avec l'ouverture du Canal de Suez, il dut se rabattre sur le traffic
de la laine. Acheter par le Portugal après 25 annees de service sous pavillon
Anglais . En 1922 grace a l'intervention du Captain WILFRED DOWNMAN le bateau
fut retourne au anglais.
THE CUTTY SARK
The Cutty Sark, a tea clipper was launched on the river Clyde in 1869. However,
it was in 1870 that it started its adventurous service. It sailed the seas
to China to transport tea, but with the opening of Suez Canal it was diverted
to wool trade. After 25 years of its involvement in English enterprises, the
Cutty Sark was acquired by the Portuguese. But in 1922, thanks to the Captain
WILFRED DOWNMAN, the vessel was returned to England.
