SERAPIS 1779 - FRIGAT ENGLAND

Mauritius Ship Models | Boat Models in Mauritius The Serapis an English frigate of the 1st rank launched in 1779 remained one of the most modern, speedy and well-armed vessels of her time. It's for this reason that she was used to protect the military convoy. During her first service as guidance, she was the protagonist of the naval battle at Cape Flamboragh in New Castle and Hull. On the night of 23rd September 1779, the battle started and "Bon Homme Richard", the America vessel commanded by J.P.Jones was damaged at the keel and at the masts. The English frigate was under the command of captain Richard Pearson who ordered to go nearer in order to attack the enemy vessel and also to force the Americans to surrender but he misjudged the manoeuvres of "Bon Homme Richard". It was then that the Americans after a fierce battle, captured the "SERAPIS" together with some of her crew but at the same time the badly damaged "Bon Homme Richard" SANK. This battle was recorded in history as one of the most important naval battles.

C'etait pour cette raison qu'elle fut servi pour proteger l'armee. Dans la nuit du 21 Septembre 1979 une bataille eclata. Il livra bataille contre le "BON HOMME DE RICHARD" qui a la quille et les mats endommages. Le commandement board, le captain Richard Pearson donna l'ordres d'attaquer et de force les Americain de se render, mais ne realisa pas les manoeuvres de "BON HOMMES DE RICHARD". C'est a ce moment la que le Serapis fut capture.
