WASA

On the 10th of October, the Swedish vessel "THE WASA" and her crew left Stockholm for her maiden journey. While crossing the port, an unexpected southwest wind capsizes the vessel and in a few minutes' she was 35m under the water. Sunk with her 64 canons placed along a shell on 70m, masts of 50m long, 10 sail that is 4000m of sailing and more than 1000 golden sculptures. In 1958 the Swedish government spent two and half million dollars to salvage it back to the surface. The wreck of "THE WASA" cause a lot of problem to Sweden, but her discovery in the XXth century enabled the world to learn about a vessel three centuries old.

Le 10 Aout 1628 "LE WASA" quittait Stockholm pour son voyage d'inaugural. En traversant le port, un vent inattendu du sud ouest se leva et le navire se renversa et se trouva a 35m de profondeur et avec lui se noyait toute une technique les plus modernes de l'epoque avec 64 canons disposes le long d'une coque de 70m, de mats s'elancant jusqu'a 50m, 10 voiles, soit 4000m2 de voilure et plus de 1000 sculptures dorees. En 1958, le gouvernment suedoise depensa 2 millions et demi de dollars pour remonter le bateau a la surface. Il causa beaucoup d'ennuis a la Suede, mais sa decouverte au Xxe siecle permit au monde entier de connaitre le navire de guerre vieux de trios siecles.
